Background
Just over a month ago, on the same day, the Cornish artist Rachael Mia Allen and John Connolly both posted images on Facebook of paintings that they had been working on. Unbeknown to each other, they had both used the same photographs as stimulus. Photographs that Rachael had taken and posted previously.
They had a huge positive response to their work. This gave John the idea to have an online exhibition involving as many artists as possible for an excellent cause. As statistics tell us, 1 in 3 are directly affected by cancer in the UK, everybody knows someone who is or has been affected by this terrible disease and it is important for money to be raised for us to beat cancer.
This year artists are invited to work, not from the same photograph but the theme of The Storm.
All work will be sold at the same price of £200 with 100% of this going to charity. For the customer this represents a huge saving; while at the same time, they will be donating to Cancer research UK.
All the work should be roughly the same size. All paintings and photographs produced are either 30 x 30 cm or 30 x 40 cms on unframed canvas and 40 x 40 cm or 40 x 50 cms on paper including the mount.
Artists will kindly cover the shipping costs and price of materials as their contribution to Cancer Research UK. Shipping will be approximately £5.00
Criteria for pieces of sculpture are yet to be finalised, should any sculptors wish to donate their work please bear in mind the shipping costs.
How will it work?
1. When completed, images of work should be emailed to [email protected] . High resolution photos of work should be provided as this would enable us to not only sell the original, but also sell prints for £65 each. Should artists choose not to have work put into print, then please only supply us with a low resolution image. I have already contacted a Fine Art Printer who is willing to produce prints at a competitive rate. Copyright remains at all times with the artist.
2. The low resolution images will be posted on the website and on Facebook detailing the title, the artist’s name, the artist’s web address and Facebook page (where applicable) plus size, support and media.
3. When someone wishes to buy a piece of work, they simply buy it off the ukartaid.com website using credit, debit or paypal leaving name and delivery address. The money will be paid directly to Cancer Research via our JustGiving website. Buyers will have the option to gift aid their purchase.
4. When payment has been received the artist will be informed and will send the work to the buyer.
To purchase a print, buyers should contact us via email so we can arrange payment and shipping.
If you would like to get involved (which I hope you will), please do the following:
Reply to this message confirming you wish to give support to UK Art Aid by clicking the contact button, with any questions you may have.
Begin a piece of work or use one you already have. nb. I want to launch the web page for purchasing by the end of June so I will need your image no later than 15th June. Earlier if possible please.
I look forward to hearing from you.
